The Disc-O-Zozo PDGA C-Tier tournament is coming to Carrizozo! Thanks to William Garrison, this looks like it will be a yearly event. Come out and practice, sign up and practice some more. The course is deceptive–it may not look like much from the road, but Everett Brophy made sure it was challenging enough for experts while forgiving enough for those who are just starting out. It may not have the typical obstacles–trees, changes in elevation, etc.– but it does have a water feature thanks to the Carrizozo Lake/Pond and be sure to look out for rattlesnakes, pronghorn, crazy geese and a blue heron who is psychotically territorial. Oh, and it can get windy. There are no fees to play, it is accessible from US 380 and Jenn’s Sweet Spot offers great food and coffee (just please do not bring in outside food and drink). When it is too cold and snowy in Ruidoso or if you are just traveling through, slow down a play a round. And if you are competitive, sign up for the tournament. It will not disappoint.
